Hypertufa Planter Workshop
Make a hypertufa planter for your yard!! Hypertufa is a manmade rock formed from various aggregates including coconut coir, perlite, and Portland cement. Hypertufa popular for making garden ornaments and planting containers because it is much lighter weight compared to concrete, but still offers the rustic and natural look of stone. Hypertufa products are frost-proof and can be left outdoors in the winter. Hypertufa products can also be created in a variety of shapes and sizes.
All of the necessary supplies for making the planter, with the exception of the planter molds, will be provided and our Conservation Staff will lead you through the steps of making your planter. Workshop participants should bring an outer and inner mold to the workshop to create their planters. Outer molds should be no more than 8 inches in diameter. Inner molds should be no larger than 4.5 inches in diameter. Make sure you can fit your hand in the space between your inner and outer mold. You are welcome to bring any shape mold you would like!
