Rain Garden Workshop at Perkiomen Valley Brewery
Join us for a Rain Garden Workshop hosted at Perkiomen Valley Brewery and learn how to manage those pesky wet areas in your yard - including how to install a beautiful and functional backyard rain garden.
Rain gardens are shallow, bowl-shaped gardens designed to capture rainwater and allow it to slowly soak into the ground rather than becoming polluted runoff. Planted with deep-rooted native species, these gardens can handle both wet and dry conditions while providing valuable habitat for pollinators and wildlife.
Our Director of Conservation will lead you through the process of designing, installing and maintaining a backyard rain garden so you can confidently create your own at home!
Skippack Township Rain Barrel Workshop
Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to build and install a rain barrel at home! Each participant will leave with a fully assembled rain barrel, ready to install and start using right away.
Rain barrels collect rainwater from your downspout for reuse around your home, perfect for watering plants, cleaning yard equipment, or other outdoor needs. This simple, sustainable solution helps reduce household water use while also decreasing stormwater runoff.
All materials and tools will be provided, including a 55-gallon hard plastic drum. Staff will guide you step by step through the building and installation process, making this workshop beginner-friendly.
Red Hill Borough Stormwater Workshop
Join the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy at Red Hill Borough Hall to learn about all things stormwater! This interactive workshop will explore the problems associated with stormwater runoff and practical ways you can reduce runoff at home.
Topics will include adding native plants to your yard, using environmentally friendly lawn and garden maintenance practices, installing a rain barrel, and other simple strategies that help protect local waterways.
Participants will leave with practical ideas and resources they can use to reduce stormwater runoff and make their backyard more environmentally friendly.
