About Us About Us

To serve the people and communities of the Perkiomen Watershed by preserving and protecting land and water resources through commitment to and leadership in environmental education, watershed stewardship and conservation programs.

The Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy is a nonprofit organization founded in 1964 by local citizens to combat pollution in the Perkiomen Creek and its tributaries. Our watershed encompasses 362 square miles and 57 municipalities in Berks, Bucks, Lehigh and Montgomery counties. (CLICK HERE to see a map of the watershed).  We provide an integrated approach to environmental issues of the Perkiomen Watershed area through environmental education, watershed stewardship and conservation programs. We believe that all people living in the watershed have a common interest in, and dependence on, the quality and quantity of their water, soil, air, wildlife, and other natural resources.

The Conservancy has more than 500 individual and family memberships, over 30 municipal members, a Board of Directors representing business, the professions and education, an Advisory Board consisting of community leaders and a dedicated staff of 6. For over 40 years, we have been supported through the generosity of our members and contributions from many foundations, corporations and local businesses.

We are located on the corner of Skippack Pike (Route 73) and Haldeman Road, near Pennypacker Mills just east of Schwenksville.  The Perkiomen Creek and its tributary, the East Branch Creek, are a short hike from the Conservancy.

Our Strategic Plan

Over the last year and a half, the Conservancy has reviewed and updated its Strategic Plan. The updated plan defines the main goals and objectives of the Conservancy and will help maintain focused programming and project efforts as the Conservancy goes forward toward its 50th Anniverasary in 2014.
