Water Resources Association (WRA) of the Delaware River Basin recognized the Conservancy with the prestigious Dr. Ruth Patrick Award for…”outstanding early childhood, youth, and adult environmental education programs, for promoting sound storm water management and for exemplary protection and restoration activities within the Perkiomen Creek watershed.” The award was presented by Montgomery County Commissioner, Ruth S. Damsker. to Trudy Phillips, the Conservancy’s Director for Environmental Education. |

The F.A.W.N. (Friendly Activities With Nature) Program was honored with an “Environmental Excellence Award”. This year-long program exposes kindergarteners to a variety of lessons, activities, and materials. It provides students with two outdoor seasonal visits with Conservancy staff and an additional two visits by staff in their classrooms.

This award is given to a teacher who demonstrates a keen awareness of. understanding about and commitment to the natural world. Recognized by peers as an outstanding teacher/learner, this individual possesses the skills required to initiate change in a student’s perspective about their dependence upon the natural systems and cycles. Award winners were selected based on their overall commitment to advocacy, developmentally appropriate curriculum, cultural sensitivity, leadership, mentoring contributions, parent relations, community outreach, professionalism, and their ability to mobilize resources. |
