CREATURES FROM THE SCRAP PILE
September 29, 2007 1:00—2:30 pm
We've gathered the pieces of our summer wood projects and will do our part to recycle by building creature sculptures from wood scraps.  You’ll be introduced to various sculpture artists and cultures, examine different wood species, and learn special techniques to keep it all together!  After we plan and assemble the pieces, we'll add paint to finish it off.  (Gloves and safety goggles will be provided.)

ANIMAL MASKS
October 27, 2007 1:00—2:30 pm
Bat, fox, owl, eagle… and more! Choose your favorite animal and make your own animal face mask using fabric and cardboard frames.  Learn about a variety of animals and how they have influenced the creation of masks used by Native American tribes.

LEAF IT TO ME! Decorative Napkins and Napkin Rings
November 17, 2007 1:00—2:30 pm
Add your special touch when family and friends gather around the Thanksgiving table! Leave this class with a set of handmade leaf print napkins and rings crafted by YOU!  We'll identify indigenous Pennsylvania trees, noting their leaf shape and texture. Then, using fabric watercolors and leaves, you’ll learn a simple printing technique that creates shadowy images of the greenery.  In addition, miniature acorn and oak leaf pieces will adorn napkin rings for an artistic table setting.

WE ARE FAMILY
December 15, 2007 1:00—2:30 pm
During the winter holiday season, we celebrate many family traditions. Join us and create a hanging family portrait sculpted from oil clay and adorned with beads.  Using the bas-relief technique (one side flat, one side standing out), you will create a unique family portrait, just as the artist Faith Ringold and colonial families did in the past.  Bring a family portrait or single photos of each family member.  Artist-in-Residence, Sherri Pisano, will combine science and art during these active, and very creative Saturday afternoon classes!  *Pre-registration is required. Payment must accompany registration.
