CONSERVATION PROGRAMS

The 2009 - 2014 Strategic Plan for the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy presents the Strategic Initiatives of the Conservancy and outlines the objectives for meeting each. Strategic Initative II, Provide Tools for Action, directs the Conservancy to "Develop a watershed-wide action campaign to help residents and businesses take meaningful actions to protect and enhance the Perkiomen Watershed's many natural resources, especially water resources.

Goals
· Restore waterways and water quality through on-the-ground conservation projects.
· Create opportunities for residents to undertake local conservation and stewardship actions in support of water resource protection.

Objectives
1. Increase public understanding of stormwater as a valuable resource that requires careful management.

2. Provide opportunities for community groups throughout the watershed to participate in monitoring, clean-up, and restoration projects in their respective areas.

3. Use PWC sponsored conservation projects as demonstrations of appropriate stormwater Best Management Practices and riparian conservation and stewardship.

Potential partners: Business community, municipalities, local service organizations, schools, churches and community groups.
